NORWALK, CT - September 2, 2008 - For the second year in a row, Teddy's Transportation System, Inc., a global ground transportation company based in Norwalk, CT, has been named to the Inc. magazine list of the 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the country. According to Inc. magazine, the list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy - America's independent- minded entrepreneurs. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.
Teddy's was also one of several companies selected for a slide show presentation featuring remarkable "green" initiatives, which will be screened at the Inc. 500 | Inc. 5000 Conference September 18-20 in Washington, D.C. The company is ranked 83 on the list of the top 100 transportation companies.
"We were very excited to make the list in its inaugural year and are honored to repeat our success again this year," noted Charles Wisniewski, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Teddy's revenue grew 58.1% between 2004 and 2007, the time-frame of the current list, and I'm delighted to report that our success is continuing in 2008. Although many companies in our industry are having problems right now, Teddy's has been experiencing solid growth, and we're continuing to hire people to meet customer demand," Mr. Wisniewski observed.
"Some business travel purchasing agents view ground transportation as a commodity, but customers demand prompt, courteous service, and will penalize any company that does not deliver that. Road warriors know there is often a vast difference in service levels across livery providers," noted Mr. Wisniewski, a past president of the National Limousine Association. "At Teddy's, we also connect people through dynamic new avenues of communication, including online booking, as well as telephone reservations, technology that pinpoints a traveler's whereabouts in real time and innovative solutions that help corporate purchasers manage a worldwide transportation budget," he said.
The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies - as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.
The 5000 companies that made the list reported aggregate revenue of $185 billion and median three-year growth of 147 percent. Most important, the 2008 Inc. 5000 companies were engines of job growth, having created more than 826,033 jobs since those companies were founded. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and a list of the fastest-growing companies that can be sorted by industry and region can be found at www.inc5000.com.
